Help Me Pay My Bills – Debt Relief At Its Finest

Today, many people have more debt than ever before. Did you know that the average for household credit card debt is over $10,000? That is because we are so undisciplined in handling monetary funds that we go in over our heads. Debt can be a sea that could drown us if we aren’t careful. The good news is that there is help out there if you are in it too deep.

Before you scream “Help me pay my bills!” there are some things that you need to know. In order to cure yourself of the “debt bug” you must understand that most credit cards and loans are designed to keep us in the hole. That means your $5000 credit card that you pay the $100 minimum every month is actually costing you $30,000 over 20 years in interest. And that’s the way the banks and lenders want it.

Credit can be your friend if you use it responsibly but you must indeed stay away from frivolous spending. Or you will be right back in the deep hole where you started. So how can you get help paying your bills?

First, try to call each one of your lenders and speak to an agent. There are many lenders that have hardship programs that can help you out of your situation. You still have to pay the debt you owe however, they make it easier for you. So instead of paying $300 a month on your Visa for a year, they can allow you to pay $100 a month toward the principle for 3 years. You just have to ask first for them to unleash their special blessings.

You can also go the route of going though a Debt Settlement agency. Debt settlers will call your lender and attempt to negotiate a way for you to pay a portion of the debt, maybe 50% to 60% over a longer period of time. In some cases this works because the lender will rather have you pay on what you owe than to walk away from it completely, or file bankruptcy.

There you have it! Put these tips to action and get help for you bills. The sooner you pickup the phone, the sooner you can start climbing out of that crater of debt.

Jean Chatzky has been working with viewers of NBC’s Today show for a series on how to get out of debt once and for all. Her method, both on TV and in this book, is simple yet powerful: the key is saving just $10 a day that you currently waste. It doesnÂ’t sound like much – a movie ticket or lunch for two at McDonaldÂ’s – but $10 really can take you from debt to wealth in just a few years. And because it doesnÂ’t feel like an impossible goal, people are more likely to stick with ChatzkyÂ’s plan than an extreme regimen of spending cutbacks. Chatzky is focusing on debt because itÂ’s the single biggest threat to our financial health. The average American family has sixteen credit cards and high-rate debt of more than $8000, not even counting car loans and mortgages. They pay more than $1000 a year in interest alone. Debt makes people feel depressed and overwhelmed, leaving them without enough money for the truly important things in life – education, retirement, owning a home, feeling secure. Chatzky, one of AmericaÂ’s most popular personal finance experts, writes in down-to-earth, woman-next-door language about how to get started right away, without giving up the things that truly give you pleasure. This book can save you over $100,000 These days, most people assume you need to pay a boatload of money for a quality college education. As a result, students and their parents are willing to go into years of debt and potentially sabotage their entire financial futures just to get a fancy name on their diploma. But Zac Bissonnette is walking proof that this assumption is not only false, but dangerous-a class con game designed to rip you off and doom your student to a post-graduation life of near poverty . From his unique double perspective-he’s a personal finance expert (at Daily Finance) AND a current senior at the University of Massachusetts-Zac figured out how to get an outstanding education at a public college, without bankrupting his parents or taking on massive loans. Armed with his personal knowledge, the latest data, and smart analysis, Zac takes on the sacred cows of the higher education establishment. He reveals why a lot of the conventional wisdom about choosing and financing college is not only wrong but hazardous to you and your child’s financial future. You’ll discover, for instance, that: * Student loans are NOT a necessary evil. Ordinary middle class families can- and must -find ways to avoid them, even without scholarships. * College “rankings” are useless-designed to sell magazines and generate hype. If you trust one of the major guides when picking a college, you face a potential financial disaster. * The elite graduate programs accept lots of people with non-elite bachelors degrees. So do America’s most selective employers. The name on a diploma ultimately won’t help your child have a more successful career or earn more money. Zac can prove every one of those bold assertions – and more. No matter what your current financial situation, he has a simple message for parents: “RELAX! Your kid will be able to get a champagne education on a beer budget!”

Help!

Considering that Help! functions as the Beatles’ fifth album and as the soundtrack to their second film — while filming, they continued to release non-LP singles on a regular basis — it’s not entirely surprising that it still has some of the weariness of Beatles for Sale. Again, they pad the album with covers, but the Bakersfield bounce of “Act Naturally” adds new flavor (along with an ideal showcase for Ringo’s amiable vocals) and “Dizzy Miss Lizzy” gives John an opportunity to flex his rock & roll muscle. George is writing again and if his two contributions don’t touch Lennon and McCartney’s originals, they hold their own against much of their British pop peers. Since Lennon wrote a third more songs than McCartney, it’s easy to forgive a pair of minor numbers (“It’s Only Love,” “Tell Me What You See”), especially since they’re overshadowed by four great songs. His Dylan infatuation holds strong, particularly on the plaintive “You’ve Got to Hide Your Love Away” and the title track, where the brash arrangement disguises Lennon’s desperation. Driven by an indelible 12-string guitar, “Ticket to Ride” is another masterpiece and “You’re Going to Lose That Girl” is the kind of song McCartney effortlessly tosses off — which he does with the jaunty “The Night Before” and “Another Girl,” two very fine tunes that simply update his melodic signature. He did much better with “I’ve Just Seen a Face,” an irresistible folk-rock gem, and “Yesterday,” a simple, beautiful ballad whose arrangement — an acoustic guitar supported by a string quartet — and composition suggested much more sophisticated and adventurous musical territory, which the group immediately began exploring with Rubber Soul. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, Rovi

Most people carry debt for most of their adult lives. Yet, most books on debt focus mainly on how to pay it all off, and live forever without it. Too often, following that advice leads only to failure. People either give up, or pay off the wrong kinds of debt. They strand themselves with too little flexibility to survive a financial crisis — and land in bankruptcy court. They neglect saving for retirement, homes, or college, and end up poorer than they might have been. For most people, it’s more realistic — and smarter — to control and manage debt effectively, rather than eliminating it completely. Debt Smart shows how. Award-winning personal finance columnist Liz Weston explains the rules and explodes the myths surrounding debt. Discover the crucial role debt can play in a portfolio, identifying debts that actually contribute to  wealth and flexibility, while avoiding or eliminating “toxic” debts. Weston presents effective strategies for evaluating, monitoring, and paying every form of debt, from credit cards and mortgages to student and auto loans. She offers practical guidelines for how much debt one should take on.  Find realistic (and often surprising) guidance on everything from home equity loans and 401K borrowing to small business loans.

Debt-Free U: How I Paid for an Outstanding College Education Without Loans, Scholarships, or Mooching Off My Parents

Debt-Free U: How I Paid for an Outstanding College Education Without Loans, Scholarships, or Mooching Off My Parents

$14.98

"I’m a 21 year old student at a large public university. What do I know? Maybe I’m just rationalizing the fact that I’m attending a so-so public college You’d have to be out of your mind to take my word for anything But what you should do is look at the data and draw your own conclusions. I will show you the results of some little-known studies that are likely to change the way you think about paying for college forever…I’ll offer guidance and practical tips for ways to secure a better, more enjoyable, less stressful, and saner college experience for everyone involved. "A large portion of the advice in this book is hugely counterintuitive, but guess what? I’m living it. I’m not some ivory tower admissions guru spewing advice about how people should make one of the most important decisions of their lives, with no stake in the outcome." (from "College on a Dime") College costs are rising at twice the rate of inflation-and much of that increase is being financed by parents looting retirement accounts and students burdening themselves with debt loads that will change the course of their financial lives. It doesn’t have to be that way. Armed with data, experience, and a stiff dose of rational analysis Zac Bissonnette explains why so much of the "wisdom" about choosing and financing college is not only wrong but dangerous. In this book, he explains: -Why the name on your child’s diploma means less for his future than you think it does. -Why student loans are the next great consumer crisis in America-and how to avoid it. -Why the myth of "fit" won’t lead your child to a superior college experience. -Why scholarships and financial aid won’t alleviate spiraling college costs-and what will. With a fresh approach to selecting, maximizing, and paying for college, Bissonnette gives parents practical, and often surprising, advice on how to help their kids get a champagne education on a beer budget. The do’s and don’ts of college: "Do" recognize that the amount your kids’ friends’ parents will be contributing to their educational expenses is likely far higher than it should be. "Don’t" let someone tell you that student loans are not that big of a deal. Yes, they’re normal, but so is being broke. "Don’t" fall in love with a college or let your child fall in love with one. Every college is a combination of great professors and lousy ones, cool students and not-so-cool ones. Most of all, "do" look at college as a rational investment, not some silly coming of age ritual where money is no object.

One Nation Under Debt

One Nation Under Debt

$27.95

Like its current citizens, the United States was born in debt-a debt so deep that it threatened to destroy the young nation. Thomas Jefferson considered the national debt a monstrous fraud on posterity, while Alexander Hamilton believed debt would help America prosper. Both, as it turns out, were right. One Nation Under Debt explores the untold history of America's first national debt, which arose from the immense sums needed to conduct the American Revolution. Noted economic historian Robert Wright, Ph.D. tells in riveting narrative how a subjugated but enlightened people cast off a great tyrant-“but their liberty, won with promises as well as with the blood of patriots, came at a high price.” He brings to life the key events that shaped the U.S. financial system and explains how the actions of our forefathers laid the groundwork for the debt we still carry today. As an economically tenuous nation by Revolution's end, America's people struggled to get on their feet. Wright outlines how the formation of a new government originally reduced the nation's debt-but, as debt was critical to this government's survival, it resurfaced, to be beaten back once more. Wright then reveals how political leaders began accumulating massive new debts to ensure their popularity, setting the financial stage for decades to come. Wright traces critical evolutionary developments-from Alexander Hamilton's creation of the nation's first modern capital market, to the use of national bonds to further financial goals, to the drafting of state constitutions that created non-predatory governments. He shows how, by the end of Andrew Jackson's administration, America's financial system was contributing to national growth while at the same time new national and state debts were amassing, sealing the fate for future generations.
